We had such a fun day on this cruise on Saturday 4th pm. Thank you to Mia that changed our day last minute after a slipping accident the day before. The crew were fantastic, the ice floating team were energetic and friendly, and after warming up with a hot chocolate they said we could meet the captain to learn about the sailing and navigation.

We will do again.

If you are worried about being cold in the water, don't be, we kept our base layers and mid layers on and just removed our coat and outdoor trousers. The water was warmer than standing on the boat/land.

We took spare clothes but they wasn't needed on this occasion.

The only thing we wish we had was a photo of us in the water for our memories, there was three of us and we decided to go in at the same time so we couldn't take photos.

The lunch buffet was nice before.

The snow castle bit, the kid loved the slide.. But it was a bit underwhelming . It was OK for the price with day trip but I would not be happy paying full price or travelling to see just it.

Unique Icebreaker Cruise Experience with a Few Hiccups

Our Icebreaker Cruise in Finland was a unique and satisfying experience overall. The ship itself is well-maintained, although smaller compared to the Sampo cruise. The onboard café offers a decent selection of food and beverages, but nothing particularly memorable.

The ship features both a front and top deck for viewing the frozen seas, providing stunning panoramic views. However, deck access is limited to a certain number of people at a time, so a short wait of 10-15 minutes might be required. For those looking to stay warm, the ship has two cozy lounges where you can relax comfortably between outdoor activities.

The highlight of the cruise was definitely the survival suit experience. Wearing air-filled suits, we floated in the icy water while gazing at the sky—a surreal and unforgettable moment! A small tip: avoid tilting your head too far back to prevent water from seeping into the suit.

On the downside, the logistics around the Snow Castle shuttle were disappointing. They announced the shuttle only once, and there were no reminders when it was about to leave. This left us scrambling and ultimately forced to take an expensive cab to the Snow Castle. To add to the frustration, the Snow Park was closed, and we had to wait for the bus back to the city.

Despite these minor setbacks, the Icebreaker Cruise remains a remarkable and unique experience, perfect for adventure enthusiasts visiting Finland. Just be mindful of the shuttle timings and double-check the availability of connected attractions to make the most of your trip.

Wir habe die Eisbrecherfahrt mit der Arktis gebucht. Dies ist das neuere Schiff, da wohl der Sampo bald in Rente gehen wird.

Das Schiff hat ein Café und 2 Lounges in denen man wich aufwärmen kann. Man kann auf dem Schiff vorn aufs Panoramadeck gehen und zuschauen wie das Eis gebrochen wird.

Toiletten sind vorhanden, waren aber dreckig und ekelhaft.

Das Highlight war natürlich das Baden im Überlebensanzug. Man bekommt beim Check in ein Armband in einer gewissen Farbe. Diese Farbe ist gleichzeitig die Uhrzeit, wann man mit eisbaden dran ist. Die Farben werden ausgerufen und auch an die Scheibe geklebt, in den Container wo man sich umzieht.
Es gibt auch um Wertgegenstände zu verschließen kleine Schließfächer.

Was uns geärgert hat, wir waren zu 2t gleichzeitig im Wasser und konnten kein Foto machen. Wir haben dann schnell jemand gefragt der uns dann nachträglich die Bilder geschickt hat.
Es wäre schön wenn wir entweder unterschiedliche Uhrzeiten erhalten hätten oder das mit dem Fotografieren anders gelöst hätte werden können. Oder man bietet ein Foto für 5€ an, hätten wir auch gezahlt. Oder zB eine Cloud und jeder kann es sich runterladen.

An awesome experience that isn’t too touristy. Ice-floating is truly a once in a lifetime must-try experience! Everything is very controlled and safe too!
